Many times chilsonating will be the first step in the processing of many raw materials. The Chilsonator houses grooved, rotating rollers pressed tightly against one another by hydraulic pressure. Raw materials are placed into the hopper of the Chilsonator and are fed by a system of horizontal and vertical screws into these rollers. As material passes through the grooves in the rollers, it is compacted under very high pressure and emerges from the Chilsonator as dense sheets. The sheets are milled into a fine granular powder using a Fitz Mill, and then passed through a special screen to produce a uniform, free flowing granule. The Chilsonation process results in a finished powder that is 2 to 4 times denser than the starting material. This allows the production of raw materials that normally could not be made into a tablet. This can be the difference between going to market with a product or not going to market. The Chilsonator improves the flow characteristics of raw materials, resulting in better dispersion of the nutrients in the tablet. This is extremely important, because uniform dispersion of nutrients enhances nutrient bio availability. This ability to alter flow characteristics makes the Chilsonator ideal for use in dry granulation of raw materials. Wet GranulationEdan also utilizes a racking and oven system for wet granulation. Wet granulation is the process in which powders are moistened and dried changing the particle size by adjoining the products with moisture, usually hard chunks are created by adding the moisture. After these chunks are dried then the milling process takes place to convert these chunks into the exact particle size needed for the manufacturing process. |
